Nordonia Hills City Schools Contracts to Complete Energy Project

Posted on 9/13/2013

Nordonia Hills City School District is partnering with CCG to implement an Energy Conservation Program.  Under this project the District will implement energy saving strategies that will help save money in energy, operations, increase safety at the High School, and address health concerns throughout the district.

The school district, consisting of six different buildings, is implementing a campus–wide lighting upgrade, funded not by the tax payers, but through House Bill 264 legislation.  This legislation allows school districts to make energy efficiency improvements to their buildings and use the cost savings to pay for those improvements.

Upon completion of the lighting upgrades, which include the retrofitting of interior and gym lighting fixtures, addition of motion sensors, re-lamping all bulbs to a district required 3500 color temperature to address health concerns for students, and the upgrade of existing exterior lighting in parking lots to new LED fixtures and added poles to address safety concerns in the parking lots, the district stands to save $49,594 annually on electricity costs.
