House Bill 264
Energy Conservation Program

  • Project Cost:
    $913,336
  • Projected Annual Energy Savings:
    $64,747
  • Actual First Year Energy Savings:
    $72,785
  • Savings Exceeded Projection By:
    $8,039

The project addressed several Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) at Dalton High School and Athletic Complex, including:

  • Mechanical upgrades included two efficient heating hot water boilers and domestic hot water heater.
  • Building automation upgrades included the implementation of Automated Logic controls to monitor and control the high school and athletic complex.
  • Lighting upgrades throughout the building included classrooms and hallways fixtures.

Actual First Year Savings:

  • 268,618 kWh of electricity
    $23,685
  • 4,474 MCF of natural gas
    $49,100
  • Operational savings
    $6,523

Along with the energy and cost savings for the building, the positive environmental impact of this project extends far beyond this community. Reduced energy use by Dalton Local School District will prevent a significant amount of pollutants from being emitted into the atmosphere each year, including an estimated:

  • 398,069 lbs. of carbon dioxide
  • 4,300 lbs. of sulfur dioxide
  • 3,625 lbs. of nitrogen oxide

Combined, these projected energy savings are equivalent to taking 29.49 cars off the road.
